What is K-Taping?
When watching your favourite sports – be it football, rugby, tennis or boxing – you’ve probably noticed some of these athletic superstars rolling out onto the pitch or into the arena covered in tape. While positions, patterns and placement of the tape might seem sporadic – there’s actually nothing random about it!
What you’re looking at kinesiology tape, also known as kinesio tape, k-tape or KT.
K-tape is a type of elastic therapeutic tape, created by a Japanese chiropractor back in the 70s. The primary purposes of the tape are to provide support without limiting or hindering movement and to lessen pain (both of which affect athletic performance).
Applied strategically, k-taping is a widely used practice loved by physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths and sports therapists alike.
Check out the FAQs section for some more in-depth information on the application process and what to expect from your appointment.
